SuSE Linux 9.3 on the Samsung P40 XVM 1600 Laptop

Some hinges about the installation of Novell/SuSE 9.3 on a Samsung P40 XVM 1600 (BTW: the P40 series is the successor of the P35 series).

PCMCIA

There are problems to get PCMCIA to work (at least with Kernel 2.6, the former 2.4 series works fine), starting cardmgr always causes the laptop to hang.

The machine freezes reproduceable as soon as cardmgr starts - various tests showed, it is definitely cardmgr, that causes the problem and not any of the modules involved. Just change the default file /etc/pcmcia/config.opts:
