This set of utilities(http://rio500.sourceforge.net) lets you upload songs and manage folders for Diamonds Rio 500 player under Linux and *BSD. The utilities have worked for Linux under i386, PPC and Alpha architectures. Using a driver for *BSD it works for FreeBSD, OpenBSD and NetBSD.

Features include managing the internal memory of the player, file system browsing and transfer to the player, and automatic conversion of various formats to MP3.
rio is a utility for MP3 file upload to Diamond's Rio, a production portable MP3 player. Developed for Linux, the program was created as a result of our earlier work on providing support (Open Source) for the Saehan MpMan, which was the first production MP3 player.
libkarma(http://www.freakysoft.de/html/libkarma/) is a C library for managing the Rio Karma via TCP/IP. It supports all basic protocol commands and some advanced functions on top of these, like caching of the Rio database. There are two proof-of-concept tools included, riocp and chprop. riocp can be used to upload files to the Karma.
