Applications, Ports, Drivers
OpenEinstein
The
Einstein Platform
allows NewtonOS to run on other operating
systems. It currently runs on Mac OS X (ppc and x86), Zaurus (with
OpenZaurus), Nokia Internet Tablets 770 and 800, PepperPad 3 and Windows (with Cygwin
and X11).
Einstein Newton Emulator
The Einstein Newton Emulator
runs on any Linux-based PDA with X11 support.
40Hz Software
A big bunch of software and applications for the Newton MessagePad is
available at 40Hz
.
IrDA Stack
The
IrDA(TM)
stack on Newton OS 2.1 devices is missing the TinyTP, IrCOMM and IrOBEX layer required by almost any IrDA capable peer device. Nitro adds these missing infrared layers via a Newton OS Communication Tool. Its usage is comparable to using the serial or IrDA communications tools.
