How to Use the FCC ID to Detect the Original Laptop, NoteBook, PDA, Mobile Phone Manufacturer (OEM)

Besides the means provided by Linux, often the FCC ID (usually located on the backside of the case) may be used, if you are having problems identifying the original manufacturer of a laptop or notebook computer (or other electronic device,) this site lets you search the FCC database based on the FCC ID number you can usually find on the equipment if it was marketed in the United States of America.
