Debian/GNU Linux Laptop and Notebook Kernels (Old)

Back to Debian/GNU Linux and Knoppix for Laptops, Notebooks, PDAs, Mobile Phones, Portable Players, ...

APM support, IrDA modules, USB support, CODA filesystem support, Framebuffer, 586 optimization and other laptop related features (see .config file for Kernel configuration details, this file is also included into the package). The appropriate PCMCIA-CS and ALSA module packages will be provided later. I packaged some kernels as Debian/GNU Linux packages. But they will not be included into official Debian by me:
kernel-image-2.2.14-XXX_i386.deb 1.6MB
kernel-image-2.4.0-XXX_i386.deb 2.7MB

Read the Kernel-HOWTO first, the information in /usr/share/doc/kernel-doc-<VERSION> and the README for the kernel-package Debian package. The kernel 2.4.x may be used with Debian - Woody only. You may install it with dpkg -i <kernel-image-VERSION.deb>. Just in case: make sure you have the Debian boot media (floppies, CD) at hand before you start. And make a copy of /lib/modules at least. More details in the Creating Custom Kernels with Debian's Kernel_packaging System HOWTO.
