Be's hardware compatibility pages include some rather stern warnings about laptop support in R4.5. But while Be does not officially support laptops just yet, hundreds (maybe thousands) of users are successfully running R4.5 on laptops of all kinds, and have found the installation just as easy as with desktop machines(http://www.betips.net/chunga.php?ID=340) .

BlueEyedOS(http://www.BlueEyedOS.com/) is a BeOS-inspired operating system powered by a Linux kernel.
Zeta/BeOS by YellowTab(http://www.yellowtab.com)
BeOS 5 PE Max Edition(http://beosmax.org/main.php) is a distribution made using the free version of BeOS 5 (called Personal Edition) with a number of drivers, add-ons, and software. It includes the new development tools from the OpenBeOS team Web site, but you will also be able to select the old tools. It only contains freeware and shareware demos. All the code it contains is legal under the MIT, GPL, or LGPL licenses.
BeOS Developer Edition(http://www.beosonline.com/) is an updated CD image of BeOS Personal Edition R5.
NewOS(http://newos.sourceforge.net/) is a open source operating system with an emphasis on design and portability. It is largely implemented in C/C++, with a small amount of assembly.
